AXOLOTL DEFENDER

ATTACK OF THE EVIL NARWHAL

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything players ask us most, in one place. Can't find your question here? Check the How to Play guide for game rules, the Strategy Guide for tips, or just send us a message — a real person reads every email.

IS AXOLOTL DEFENDER REALLY FREE?

Yes — completely. There's no purchase price, no account to create, no download, and no paywall blocking any level, item, or skin. Everything in the Clam Shop is bought with clams you earn by playing. The website is supported by advertising, which is what keeps the game free for everyone.

WHAT DEVICES AND BROWSERS DOES IT WORK ON?

Any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox — on desktop, phone, or tablet. On touch screens you draw the force field and aim the cannon with your finger; on a computer you use the mouse. There's nothing to install and no minimum specs beyond "can open a website."

HOW DOES SAVING WORK? WILL I LOSE MY PROGRESS?

Your level, clams, items, and skins save automatically in your browser's local storage — no account needed. Two things to know: saves live on the device and browser you played on (they don't sync between your phone and your laptop), and clearing your browser data will erase your save. Private/incognito windows also don't keep saves after you close them. If your progress vanished, one of those two is almost always the reason.

WHAT ARE CLAMS AND HOW DO I EARN THEM FASTER?

Clams are the in-game currency. You earn 10 clams per level cleared, and every 5 levels a Golden Clam appears in the sky during your first shot — bounce an urchin into it for 5 bonus clams. Clams carry over even if you start a new game. For advice on what to spend them on (and what to skip), see the Strategy Guide.

HOW DO I UNLOCK THE SPECIAL SKINS?

There are four: Robolotl (200 clams), Hot Dogalotl (500 clams and reach Level 50), Goldalotl (reach Level 100), and GOATalotl (reach Level 1000). Skins are purely cosmetic — they change how Lottie looks, not how the game plays.

WHAT IS THE EVIL SEAGULL?

Starting at Level 10, the Evil Seagull may swoop in after your third shot of a level, carrying a coconut bomb it drops directly over Lottie. The bomb hits your force field for five times normal damage, so shooting the gull down early is almost always the right move.

IS THE GAME SUITABLE FOR KIDS?

The game itself is family-friendly cartoon fun — the "combat" is bouncing sea urchins off a magic bubble. The website is intended for a general audience and shows ads; our Privacy Policy explains how advertising works here, including the choices available to you.

CAN I PAUSE, OR TURN OFF THE MUSIC?

You can pause any time with the ❚❚ button in the top corner of the game. There's no dedicated mute button in the game yet — muting the browser tab or your device volume does the trick for now, and an in-game sound toggle is on the wish list. (The soundtrack is original, by the way — both the title theme and the gameplay theme were made for this game.)

IS THERE A MOBILE APP OR DOWNLOAD VERSION?

Not yet — Axolotl Defender is browser-only for now, which is exactly why it works on every device without installing anything. Other platforms are being explored; when something ships, it will be announced on this site.

THE GAME ISN'T LOADING. WHAT CAN I TRY?

First, refresh the page — that fixes most one-off hiccups. If it persists, try a different browser, disable extensions that block scripts, and make sure JavaScript is enabled (the entire game is built in it). Still stuck? Tell us which device and browser you're on and we'll dig in.

HOW DO I REPORT A BUG OR SUGGEST A FEATURE?

Email contact@capemanproductions.com or use the contact page. Include your device, browser, the level you were on, and what happened. Player reports genuinely shape what gets fixed and what gets built next.

WHO MADE AXOLOTL DEFENDER?

Capeman Productions LLC, an independent studio — this is our debut game, built from scratch including the art and the soundtrack. Read more on the About page.
